A DIY power draw bar seemed like a good project to use the mill for, so I started formulating a plan. Most if not all of the DIY and power drawbars I saw were based on pneumatic impact drivers. Most also used pneumatic cylinders to lower the driver onto the drawbar hex and to actuate the driver.
So, How Does the DIY Power Draw Bar Work? It works great, probably just like the one that Tormach sells. I wouldn't want to be without it, it's a huge time saver. However, the retention force is not good for end mills over 3/8 in, and this is a problem that has been discussed on many forums.

I can get quite a few tool changes on a single charge. There are two speeds and I only use the slow speed for now. This is my first prototype for this drawbar. It seems to be working just fine.
